In the heart of Uluwatu’s Main Street, a once-derelict café has been transformed into Pavo Lounge—a warm, inviting, and slightly decadent space that blends wine shop, cocktail bar, and intimate retreat.
My scope included developed interior architecture and design, lighting, procurement, and full implementation. Entering Pavo, guests first pass through the wine shop, where custom steel racks and a striking counter of handmade azure tiles with a black marble top set the mood—practical yet glamorous, with just the right touch of bling. Hidden behind velvet drapes, a staircase lined with glowing gold walls leads upward, heightening the sense of discovery before opening into the main lounge.
Upstairs, the expanded space offers a quiet haven for intimate meetups, wine tastings, and late-night cocktails, while the newly added rooftop terrace frames Uluwatu’s sunsets. Circular windows, polished grey cement floors, and dark timber accents create the architectural backbone. A bold peacock feature wall anchors the design, layered with brass and gold touches, velvet seating in deep jewel tones, a golden bar clad in handmade tiles, midnight blue walls, and a dark grey ceiling—all combining to shape the speakeasy vibe the client envisioned.
Custom elements—swivel chairs with wrought iron and leather details, matching barstools, golden capiz chandeliers, and brass lighting—bring crafted elegance. Even the washroom plays along, with its Balinese-style gold leaf door offering a final note of indulgence.
The result is a space of duality: by day, a sophisticated wine boutique; by night, a lush and seductive lounge—where Uluwatu’s energy meets refined design and timeless indulgence.
