Set high above Ubud’s jungle valley, Sunset Hills Resort was envisioned as a retreat for balance, empowerment, and renewal. I was engaged for the interior decoration, creating unity across the resort while refining and elevating the design direction.
The resort unfolds in layers: eight villa suites, a deluxe suite with an open-air bathroom overlooking the valley, and a vast presidential suite that crowns the estate. Each carries its own character while sharing a language of calm and understated luxury.
In the presidential suite, I emphasized lightness—smooth white furniture, jade accents, silver tables, and velvet details softening the lofty interiors, with a dramatic three-tiered chandelier by Delighting anchoring the soaring ceiling. The deluxe suite embraces a more indulgent palette of pinks and purples, with floor-to-ceiling photo art transforming the bathroom into a sanctuary of self-pampering.
The villa lounges were kept quiet and contemplative: dark wood paired with powerful portraits of Tibetan monks, grounding the spaces in stillness. I designed the reception to introduce this balance—hand-carved Indonesian doors, a burnt-wood throne, bronze lighting, and salmon-toned walls. At the heart of the resort is a calm communal lounge with low seating, custom hanging daybeds, and warm orange accents.
Every detail was chosen to serve the resort’s deeper purpose: spaces that nurture connection, reflection, and renewal.
