I was commissioned to design an estate of four villas for three clients, each with very different visions. To bring harmony, I created a unified architectural language for the exteriors, while tailoring each interior to reflect its owner’s personality. The narrow plots posed challenges, but with careful spatial planning every villa gained both privacy and open views.

Villa 3 offered me the most creative freedom. The brief was simple: a spacious, elegant two-bedroom holiday home—modern, sleek, yet inviting. I designed both the architecture and interior as one flowing whole. The main house is light-filled, anchored by a soaring atrium, and connected to a semi-detached guest wing for privacy.

Raw textures and contrasts became central to the design: a floating concrete sofa in the lounge feels bold yet softened with natural fabrics, while wide openings lead to the verandah with its built-in daybed, relaxed bale sofa, and private pool. Upstairs, the master bedroom extends to a balcony with sweeping views, while a study overlooks the atrium. The bathroom features a terrazzo tub framed by windows—a bath with a view I had long envisioned, and finally realized here.

The guest annex continues this holistic approach. Set at the far end of the pool with its own entrance, it is reached through a modern arcade that passes the infinity pool and a lotus pond with a built-in concrete bench. Its bedroom opens to a verandah with a corner daybed overlooking the fields, while a window seat frames views of the pool and pond. In the bathroom, a small carved Balinese window opens onto lush green fields—an intimate, considered detail that makes the space truly special.
